Which would you rather, BMW i8 or Porsche 911?
EDIT: For K-Roll
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:02 |

Porsche 911
Y U EVEN ASK??
AND NO PIC OF 911 EITHER?? WHATS WRONG WITH YOU!
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:03 |

Is this even a question!?
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:03 |

Just straight up, I'd get the i8. Any day of the week. The problem is, you'd be followed and gawked at everywhere you go and I have neither the time nor patience for that.
So I'd go with the more discrete 911.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:04 |
|
Probably the i8. After all, it comes with a free 911!
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:09 |
|
i8. I don't even BMW bro, but I like the I8.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:10 |

A blue 911 Targa.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:11 |
|
i8. Even if it's just because of appearances.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:11 |
|
911.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:11 |
|
lol.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:12 |
|
The newest 911 GTS looks enticing.
I don't like being mobbed by hoards of people, so I'd get the Porsche.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:12 |
|
Depends on the 911. If I can have a used 997 GT3 the choice is very easy
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:13 |
|
Well, I only drive unique cars. So the i8 any day of the week. Plus, I can't stand modern 911 naming schema. "This is a 911, but it isn't a 911, it's a 991, but the 991 IS a 911. Which is different than the 993 which is also a 911, but isn't a 991." You get my point, I hope.

911. I dunz want batteries to invade my 1970's life.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:14 |

YES BRIAN IT IS A QUESTION

:)
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:14 |

For so, so many reasons the i8. I would be lying if I said the tailor-made Louis Vuitton luggage was not one of those reasons. A small reason, but still a reason.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:14 |
|
I agree, but I think you replied to the wrong person.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:15 |
|
Bro, did you into eclipse?
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:15 |
|
The Turbo S is pretty much one of my least favorite 991s.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:15 |
|
I cannot believe I am saying this because they are nothing more than melted VW beetles with big motors. But to stand on my principle that hybrids are not true performance cars, I'll take the beetle 911
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:16 |
|
because no one wants to look at a microwaved beetle.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:16 |
|
I know, but there are some people out there that prefer 911!
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:16 |
|
Yeah, like 3 people. Out of all people.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:18 |

BTU should have gotten the Louis Vuitton luggage.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:18 |
|
Good answer.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:19 |
|
Oo. Way to be strong!
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:19 |

True!
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:19 |
|
I WILL EDIT THAT NOW.

Ninety nine one plz
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:22 |
|
BOO on YOU sir!
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:23 |

Fine, enjoy your rubbish concept hybrid, ATTENTION WHORE!!
I'll be enjoying the finer things in life.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:23 |

I hate 911's with a burning fiery passion that burns hotter than a thousand suns, the only thing that burns hotter is my hatred of Hybrid performance cars.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:26 |
|
But to stand on my principle that hybrids are not true performance cars
You stand alone.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:28 |
|
Deliberately choosing a less power dense and infinitely more complex drivetrain goes in the face of "simplify and add lightness"
I cannot abide.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:34 |
|
Energy density is equaled out by the lack of efficiency in ICE when compared to electric motors. And the extreme performance of these new hyper cars should put to rest any belief that that they're not "true" performance cars.
That's such specious reasoning to begin with, about something being a "true" anything.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:38 |
|
No, BTU should get this and give it to me so I can pretend I have an i8 when I travel.
Look. It's perfect. Though a black Keepall 55 Bandoulière is still my favorite.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:40 |
|
Efficiency? If I can afford a hyper car, I don't give a damn about efficiency, it could get one gallon per mile and run on diced lions and puppy dog tails, I simply don't care.
Give me a 1500hp quad turbo monster. because I absolutely guarantee that i could build a traditional ICE that makes more power, is lighter and faster than a hybrid drivetrain.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:44 |

911
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:46 |
|
No, you don't stand alone. If the i8 was an I6TT with a hybrid system, we'd be talking about a different story, but it's not.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:48 |
|
Want.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:49 |
|
It's so perfect.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:49 |
|
+1
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:50 |
|
I approve.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:50 |
|
I'm not really a 911 guy, and I love how the i8 looks, so that's my choice.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 10:59 |
|
Why add the bulk of a hybrid system when a twin turbo V8 is lighter and makes more power?
![]() 10/08/2014 at 11:00 |
|
Fine call, sir. But I'm just going to leave it here because I can. :)
![]() 10/08/2014 at 11:44 |
|
I'm not talking about MPG efficiency, I'm talking about the efficiency of turning the source of energy into acceleration and performance.
The EV's far less serious parasitic loss combined with instant torque (which all of the vehicles use for torque-fill at low speeds/RPMs) makes it clearly the best performance vehicles on the market.
Bar none.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 11:45 |
|
Or that. Yes, at least someone understands.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 11:45 |
|
Attention is only part of the want for me.
Th i8 looks amazing, and FUTURE and a great DD. 911 is just another 911. Don't you want to feel special and unique?
By the way, I seriously HATE black wheels with metal outlines like that. Not just on Porsches, Mercedes does it too, and it's awful..

![]() 10/08/2014 at 11:57 |

If you build a proper V8 you don't need a "torque fill" The LT5 has more than 400 ft/lbs at an idle. Everyone talks about instant torque from electric motors, but most hybrid electrics don't drop it in a lump, they bring it in gradually, just as an ICE does because of traction issues.
As far as efficiency goes, it could be a steam engine, and if the car is faster, i want it.
Simply put an i8 or a LaFerrari or P1 would faster with a lightweight big honking turbo engine.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 12:05 |
|
No, they wouldn't. At least not the LaFerrari or P1 or 918 would. And "most" hybrid electrics are not performance vehicles.
![]() 10/08/2014 at 12:24 |
|
Special and unique?? The 911 IS special and unique! Now the 991, isn't unique nor is the 997(unless it's a GT2-3/RS), same goes for the 996(which is seldom seen here). I see nothing special about the i8 whatsoever; just another hybrid supercar for the world to gawk at, so I don't really care about it? And what you be saying about my wheels M8?
![]() 10/08/2014 at 13:54 |
|
So you're saying the i8 isn't special/unique?
What.
